"Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it."
I had my laught, I don't care about stupid people.

But what is funny, It isn't so stupid. You have to lie to Your child when some questions arise, introduce them to a facts of live in proper order and proper time.
And most of these silly methoods are normally in use. Let me show:

1- A patron figure. Someone who watch kid all the time and knows everything about his/her bad deeds. Let it be god, jesus, santa claus or mr policeman. It's easier to control child and, what's most important, makes it thinks about consequences.
But this is lazy approach...

2- That is a bad thing actually. Makes child nervous and unsecure. Makes it afraid.

3- This is good thing, but written in horrible way.
First, children can feel tension between parents in air and it also stress them. It's good not to fight in front of them, but it would be better to not fight at all.
Second, a child needs not only to be loved, but also parents to love each other.
Third, if You are in fight, and your child sees this, there is no way to fool him/her. They just now whats going on, it's primal.

4- Close the door..

5- Bullshit. I have been reading books IN MORROWIND. And I am shure it had better infuence on me than Erich von Däniken would have. Give them good book, not ANY book.
Beside, this is plain silly, I was reading blogs of travelers, watching videos of craftsmans works, learning about exotic biology of animals... It's not about which MEDIUM is better.
Yes, DO control how much time Your spends in front of the screen and WHAT it is watching, but that's all.

6- This or You can say "I will protect You". It should be aware of dangers of live, but things like war, famine and pestilence shouldn't stress their little heads. They can't do anything about it, so why should they worry.
But it's good thing that they are aware that bad things might happen and why, so I would put "I will protect You" over "that can't happen here"

7- Even if You don't say so, Your child will think so.
But if You want Your kid to understand the fact "noone knows everything", You must to make shure that Your kid thinks You "know everything about right and wrong".

8- Bullshit, cause and effect is shown best on the true examples.

9- The only point in this text that, with its explanation, is 100% correct.

10- This one.. I'm slavic so dunno lol.
I just think parents in general are stupid. They lie to their kids because they'd rather dump the responsibility of discipline on their priest or a myth. Our society is built in such a way that lying to children is the norm, but I wouldn't lie to my kids. I'd just tell them I'd beat their asses if they didn't behave, like a proper parent should, and I'd tell them they'd get jack for Christmas from me, not Santa, because I'm not afraid to take charge like most people are.

And if anyone thinks there's something wrong with a spanking, then you're part of the problem. Sometimes all a kid needs is a good ass-beating. It works fine in Asia.

Not if the gun misfires.
*trollface*

Well, I wouldn't flat out say that, Santa isn't real (Example). I mean, if they want to believe in Santa, let them. I won't meddle with childish dreams like that until they learn it on their own.
But saying that "We're rearranging the kitchen, not fighting" is fucking bullshit. If you're tossing shit around when you get angry, you shouldn't have custody of a kid. Period.

I agree, and I don't mind a kid thinking a fictional character is real, but I don't like parents reinforcing it. If a kid asks their parents where Mario lives, they'll probably tell them he's not real, but if they ask where Santa is, they'll tell them he lives in the North Pole and is watching their every move. You might as well tell your kid that Mario will stomp on them if they don't eat their veggies and you'll get relatively the same damn result.

Why can't these fictional holiday characters just be cartoon characters like every other fictional character and not some go-to punishment for pussies that are too lazy and cowardly to be the authority in their kid's lives?
That article is terrible! The truth should be known... No matter how bad it hurts.
So you want to explain to a child in an already oversexed world the facts of reproduction? Explain wars and killing and violence and death and that there isn't really any magic the world is black and white and grey and red? To let them know these magic young years are only leading to all this, for them to have to relive it all again and again? Damn.. You cold boy. YOU'RE A MONSTER!

Childhood nonsence and innocense is an important step in growing up.
Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless they ask, I don't see why not. And where exactly did you get the 'reliving' part from? xD

And this is why kids are depressed as teenagers. Do you really want to put a kid through that? For them to become 12 or 13 only to find out all the good things in life are lies, and have them spite you for lying to them, setting them up for a big fall and having them lose hope in everything? Maybe you're the monster.

Do you really think that's the typical teenagers experience? Well maybe mine is non-typical but I sure haven't experienced this.
