I discovered this gem from my brother. This 2003 game is what Elite: Dangerous is based off of. Fly around space pillaging pirates (or civies/cops!), or trading goods between stations/planets. Either buy guns with credits, or find them in the debris of your enemies.

Yahtzee Croshaw's review of Elite: Dangerous pretty accurately sums it up as "deep-space truckin'."

Anyone else get into this game?
(Supports online/LAN, mods, and is only $9 on Amazon)
(Requires mods/crack to play online, master server killed)
(...I wonder if it's ethical to pirate abandonware...? You kind of have to for MP)

Forever vigilent.

RE: Freelancer
Considering the company behind it no longer exists, I would say it's ok to pirate as the developers wouldn't get anything if you bought it anyways.

I play too many games at once.
